Barack Obama is The 44th President of United States (The US). He is highly recognized worldwide and was the first African-American president of The US.  Born on August 4th 1961, he started his career as an attorney and member parliament before becoming the president from 2009-2017. Distinctively, Obama’s Family has had close relationship with Indonesia.

It is acknowledged that his mother, Ann Durham, after having divorced with Obama Sr., got remarried to an Indonesian gentleman, Lolo Soetoro. They met in University of Hawaii, where Lolo studied Geography. After two years, the family brought the young Obama back to Indonesia in 1967. They lived in Menteng Dalam, Tebet, Southern Jakarta, and moved into elite residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta in 1970.

Seen in the picture, President Obama was standing up next to The 6th President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). The occasion was The 19th ASEAN Summit in Bali 2011. As the Host Country, President SBY held a dinner receptions for head states, one of them was President Obama.

It was also seen the shirt worn by Obama was Tenun Bali Shirt. The main difference of batik and tenun is on the material and process. The material of batik mostly use cotton or silk, whereas tenun is made from threads. The batik process includes 9 stages of coloring, and tenun is yarned by non-mechanical process. The exhibited tenun Bali does not have any particular meaning, as it might be explored tenun Bali has unique design, with vertically extending on the chest.
